Our Mission
The mission of the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts (BOPA) is to address the needs of the arts community through arts and cultural activities, advocacy and support; create pride by promoting Baltimore to Baltimoreans; and to use the arts and events marketing tools to promote Baltimore’s assets locally, regionally and nationally. BOPA curates special events, develops and administers funds, grant programs and community workshops. In addition, BOPA manages several historic attractions and sites in the Baltimore area. Facilities include School 33 Art Center, The Cloisters, the Bromo Seltzer Arts Tower and the Top of the World Observation Level in the World Trade Center. The Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts is an independent 501c3 organization and the official arts council for the city of Baltimore.
Graphic Designer
Position Description
The Graphic Designer for the Baltimore Office of Promotion & the Arts is a regular, full-time, non-exempt position, who reports to the Director of Marketing, and is a member of the Marketing & Communications Department. As a Graphic Designer, you will work closely with the Marketing and Communications team to create, edit, and publish multimedia content (including print, digital graphics, photography, and videography) for marketing and communication needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop high-quality visuals for print, digital, and social media, including brochures, event posters, email campaigns, magazine ads and social media graphics.
- Lead the design and execution of materials that align with and strengthen BOPA’s brand identity.
- Help produce marketing ideas for designs and video concepts.
- Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and conceptualize creative approaches for events, artist promotions, and campaigns.
- Create animations or motion graphics to enhance digital storytelling (preferred but not required).
- Design materials that highlight and support Baltimore City artists and arts initiatives.
- Develop event-specific branding, signage, and collateral.
- Handle multiple projects with varying deadlines, maintaining a strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
- Work closely with marketing, communications, and program teams to deliver cohesive and impactful messaging.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, visual arts, or a related or a related field and minimum of 2 years of job-related experience or 6 years professional experience.
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Cloud
- Experience designing, producing, and editing creative multimedia content.
- Strong portfolio showcasing branding, print, and digital work.
- Portfolio should demonstrate high quality attention to detail and aesthetics.
- Proven ability to independently drive projects from concept to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to create designs that connect with various audiences.
- Strong communications skills; visual, verbal, and written.
- Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with various teams and departments.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail while handling multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and be responsive.
- Exceptional design skills with a focus on intentionality and purpose.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign).
- Knowledge of design trends and best practices in both print and digital media.
- Passion for the arts and supporting the creative community.
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficient with web design, including experience with HTML, CSS, and WordPress CMS
- Experience in creating social media reels and posts.
- Animation and motion graphics experience (After Effects or similar) is a plus.
- Proficient in video and photography, and editing.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary: $55,000 – $60,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Guest Services | Top Of The World Observation Level
The Guest Services position is an hourly, part-time, non-exempt position at Top of the World Observation Level located in the World Trade Center building. This position reports to the Manager of Top of the World Observation Level. The primary responsibility is to ensure the daily operations of Top of the World Observation Level, managed by the Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA).
